Jason Jones And His Muzzy Bull From Unit 1

Hunt Scout Pro Staffer, Jason Jones, took this great bull on the last day of his Unit 1 muzzy hunt. Jason hunted the entire season looking for big bulls throughout the high country of the White Mountains. He definitely "savored the moment" by hunting every day he could. HUNTED HARD!

Well, I can honestly say I did Hunt Hard! No bucks seen today. Sat the burn/saddle where I saw the big buck last night and only saw a doe. Watched some road hunters below me drive down the road a half mile and heard a shot. Hope is wasn`t the big one. Oh well. Another beautiful day in God`s creation. Can`t wait until the next one...

Just Does... Where's the big boy?

Just does this morning.... I was hoping to find that big boy but he was long gone. Just made it back to my truck at the road. Gonna eat some lunch and look at some maps to see if there are any bedding areas I can creep through before this evenings hunt.

Long Day!

After a long day of glassing, hiking ridges, and moving from one spot to the other, I finally saw a big buck! He was in the same area I saw the 2 point in from yesterday. Unfortunately, I saw him at 10 minutes till dark. In New Mexico, you cannot shoot after sunset so I just watched him walk away. Guess I know where I will be in the morning...

View Of The Burn

Here is my view right now....

Sunrise From My Perch

Got to my perch before light. Been glassing every inch of some old burns on Mt Sedgewick. All I am glassing up are Scrub Jays...... There has to be some deer in here!!!!

FINALLY.... A BUCK!!!!!

Finally saw a deer. I can't believe it! 6.5 miles (according to the GPS) today hitting the ridges and I finally see a buck right before sunset. Settled the crosshairs on him at 108 yards but let him walk. I still have the whole weekend! Back to the burn tomorrow to glass at daybreak.

Morning Hunt A Waste Of Time.

First morning of the hunt was tough! Tried to get into this area but there is only one point of access and it had a sign that said "no hunting" on forest service land. High tailed it to another spot and hiked around all morning. Not 1 deer seen.... not even a fresh track.

LETS GO!

Short night in the back of the truck. Lets go find some deer....

YORKIE Heads To NM...

I hope I can get a shot.... Sighted in my new Knight Long Range Hunter for my mule deer hunt in New Mexico. Hope I can find some deer. My scouting trip yielded NOT 1 deer seen. Called a buddy of mine and he gave me some spots to check out. l will update when I can.... Let's Hunt!

Lewis Update - The Long Walk

What an incredible hunt! The pack out was a back breaker! 120 pound pack and I had to piggyback carrying my buck and my gear out over 5 miles in extremely tough terrain! Each time I put my hands on this velvet rack, it is worth it (while I am popping Tylenol)! Long drive home but I have a smile on my face. Great hunt!

Lewis Update - Hunting Buddy Success!

My hunting partners also scored on some great bucks! Gotta love these high mountain muleys!

Lewis Update - 191 inch Colorado Muzzy Muley!!!

Well, I made a great stalk and shot. My hunt is over.... well, the fun part anyway. Still have a ton of work to do. I am so glad I passed that 170 buck earlier in the hunt. That was super tough to do! This buck is incredible! I have covered a bunch of miles and I still have a lot of work to do, but this buck is worth it!

Lewis Update - Found A Buck Worth A Shot!

Glassed up this great buck from across the valley. Time to make a stalk....

Penrod Update - No Arrows Slung

Another day for Trent on the Navajo. Came across this crazy looking skull. Heading home without an arrow in the air. Awesome time with tons of frogs, close encounters, dead batteries, and an Anasazi curse. Sounds like Trent had a unique experience on the Navajo...

Penrod Update From The Navajo - Getting Closer!

Trent just sent us a picture from the field that stated, "5x5 beat me to water by 45 min! Dang it!" Looks like he has his cameras out trolling for bulls. Can't wait to get the next update Trent. Keep it up!

Penrod Update From The Navajo - BIG DEER LIVE HERE!

Trent just updated us with some picts from his self-guided elk hunt on the Navajo. Check out this incredible buck he stumbled across. Now, that is what the Navajo is known for! Trent sent us a message earlier today letting us know that he saw a great bull this morning..... until a bunch of Navajo hunters chased it off with their trucks. Keep on it Trent. You are getting closer.

Jed Larson Gettin'r Done On Pronghorn

Hunt Scout Pro Staffer, Jed Larson, took this incredible pronghorn in Unit 10, AZ. This is the perfect looking buck in my book, and it even looks like it will make the record book! Congrats Jed on an incredible buck.

Penrod Update

Hunt Scout Pro Staffer, Trent Penrod, gave us a call this evening with some updates. He found a pretty nice water hole with some fresh elk sign. It looked like the elk had been there recently. Trent spent some time sitting the hole with no luck. He was able to call in a bull in the thick stuff, but it never came in for a shot. Trent is working the country hard like a skilled self-guided hunter can. Looking for sign and hotspots where he can spend his time. Keep it up Trent...

Local Buck Taken By Dusty Butler

Just got this pict on the phone. Nice local buck taken by Dusty Butler. Looks like 3B in the background. Great buck Dusty!
