Huntin' Fool Does It Again!!!

Holy MASS Batman!! Jason Carter (Huntin' Fool) just slayed another monster muley in southern Utah. There have been some malicious texts floating around about the take of this incredible buck, but they are all untrue. Jason took this buck self-guided and has been watching this buck for several years. It was taken under fair chaise guidelines and was an incredible feat. Congrats Jason on another incredible buck...

Eli Arrows A Heavy Brute!

Like I said before, Eli Grimmett kills the big ones. Check out this buck he arrowed last week in New Mexico. Eli was hunting the same unit I was hunting. Time in the field is the key! Can't wait to hear the story Eli. Congrats on an awesome buck. Visit Eli's blog at: http://www.pronghornguideservice.net/blog.html .

Brittingham Buck

Jack Brittingham was hunting with Greg Krogh in Nevada when he arrowed this great velvet muley! Greg sure is consistent in producing the monsters.

The Velvet is Hitting The Ground In Arizona!!!

Archery season in Arizona has begun and it sure has been a great start. My phone has been lit up with all of these incredible bucks!

Getting Soaked!

The weather has socked me in. I am getting soaked! I am hoping to find a bedded buck in this downpour to try and stalk.

About the only antelope I can get close to is this postcard of them in the Datil store. I had to come in for some go go juice and my buddies Jason and Greg had to head home. I am going back out this afternoon to try and find another one. Gotta head home this evening.

Finally found a high spot for cell service. We have been on a ton of goats. I had one at 54 yards about an hour ago. 3 more seconds and he would of been mine. I am having a blast. Just glassed up some nice bulls off this point. I will post when I can but service is limited.....

Been out of cell range most of the day. Looked at a lot of bucks. This buck is in an area with a lot of stalkable terrain. I think I am going to try to find him in the morning. Heading to Datil to meet the crew...

Gassing up in Datil... Bumped into Eli Grimmett in the store... Eli runs Pronghorn Guide Service and he has a 13 tag himself. I must be in the right spot. Eli kills the BIG ones.

NEW MEXICO Archery Antelope Hunt

NEW MEXICO Unit 13, Archery Antelope - An so it begins... Tomorrow I am heading off to New Mexico to chase speed goats with a bow. It is a self-guided hunt and I have been really looking forward to it. You can follow along as I update this blog from the field with a play-by-play of my self-guided hunt. I will be hunting antelope in unit 13, New Mexico. Unit 13 is located to the south and southeast of Datil, NM. It is an archery only unit in the public draw and I have hunted it before. I had a tag in the unit back in 2006 and my buddy Chris had the tag in 2008. Both hunts were successful and I am hoping that this hunt is just as much fun. I have two good buddies coming out to go with me, Jason Jones and Greg Lewis. We are going to try some decoying on this trip because Greg has had a lot of success with it. We have antelope decoys, cow decoys, blinds, and a variety of other tools in our arsenal that we might try on this hunt. It should be a blast!!!! Tomorrow (Friday) I am going to head out early to take a look around the unit and find out where we are going to focus our efforts. It is a HUGE unit and encompasses most of the 16's units (big game units) in New Mexico. There is a lot of public land with a bunch of private mixed throughout. I am going to run my mapping software in my truck to make sure we know where we are in the unit. I am going to meet Greg and Jason in Datil tomorrow evening. Hopefully, I will have some reports of some big bucks we are going to chase on Saturday. Keep checking back to follow along....
